Peter Bridgewater

Adjunct Professor Peter Bridgewater PhD D.Res.Mgmt (hc) FLS currently holds the honorary posts of Visiting Fellow, Centre for Museums and Heritage, Australian National University, Adjunct Professor. Institute of Applied Ecology and Institute of Governance and Policy Analysis, University of Canberra, and Visiting Professor, Beijing Forestry University.

His recent posts have included:

Non-executive Chair, UK-Joint Nature Conservation Committee; Secretary General, Ramsar Convention on wetlands; and Secretary, UNESCO Man and the Biosphere Programme.                                                                                

His is currently Australian national delegate – Intergovernmental coordinating council for the Man and the Biosphere Programme, UNESCO.  His research interests include: The interface between environmental science and policy and Links between cultural and biological diversity.

Honours include:
The UNESCO Picasso Gold Medal, 1995, awarded jointly with the Chair of the Uluru – Kata Tjuta National Park Board of Management, for excellence in managing a World Heritage cultural landscape and Doctor of Resources Management (honoris causa), University of New England, 1997.
